SPCI-KASBI and workers in PT. Carrefour Indonesia will have a national strike on 26 August to 28 August 2011, starting on 08.00 and will end if the management complete all demands addressed by SPCI-KASBI. This strike was chosen as an impact of the failure of the fair and honorable negotiations between workers and management on collective agreement in PT. Carrefour Indonesia. On the other hand the management of PT. Carrefour Indonesia applied intimidation and discrimination to member of SPCI-KASBI by using warning-letter, suspension and dismiss member of SPCI-KASBI. More than 300 warning-letters, 26 suspensions and dismissal conducted by management in their brutal way to bust the union from PT. Carrefour Indonesia.

This management brutal approaches actually starting in March 2011 after the union winning their cases on contract-based workers in PT. Carrefour Indonesia and constantly demand for collective agrement. The Supreme Court of Indonesia had released their decision and dictate management of Carrefour to change the status of contract-based workers to become permanent workers. We believe this achievement is an important step for workers movement in Indonesia in the fight against labor market flexibility. Since then the management conducting union-busting practices by intimidating workers and violate workers rights.

Hand in hand with workers in PT. Carrefour Indonesia, Confederation of Congress of Indonesian Unions Alliance – Konfederasi KASBI give a strong and total support for the strike and we demand to:

1. Stop intimidation, repression and union-busting practices in PT. Carrefour Indonesia.

2. Construct fair, just and honorable Collective Agreement between workers and management in PT. Carrefour Indonesia.

3. Immediately implement court decision on contract-based workers to become permanent workers in PT. Carrefour Indonesia.

4. Abolish all warning-letter, suspension and dismissal in PT. Carrefour Indonesia because its violate human rights and workers rights.
